    Description

This set is now being listed as pre-owned and discounted because it has been worn for an event, washed and relisted.
This Pink and Blue Renaissance Gown is comprised of two parts.  The outer gown is made of heavy weight taffeta in light mauve and medium blue.  The bodice, the outsides of the sleeves, and the front panels of the skirt are of the mauve color taffeta.  The insides of the sleeves and the sides and back of the skirt are made of the blue.  At the seam joining the blue and pink panels of the skirt I added dark blue and mauve lace.  The pattern was cut to a size 12 but would fit slightly larger or smaller frames since the front lacing will allow a variety of chest sizes.  The finished gown is 58 inches from back of neck to bottom of hem but it can be shortened up to 5 inches before the sleeves brush the floor.  I have made three gowns off this pattern, this pink/blue comb, a black, and a light blue.  The gown has open sleeves adorned with dark red cord bows.  The front lacing is dark red cord drawn through silver metal eyelets.  The front edge of the gown and the edges of the open sleeves are trimmed in dark red and navy blue.  The seams of the gown are covered to prevent unravelling.  The undergarment is of white linen and has elastic at the wrists.  The neck opening is designed to be adjustable with a ribbon that can draw the opening very close to the neck or very loose to fall across the shoulders.
Both the gown and the undergarment have a small label with the name of my company, ThumbelinaGowns, sewn into an inner seam.   A description of the gown has been added to my design book, along with several photographs.  I do so to ensure that I never repeat a gown.  This is the only gown of this color combination I will make off this pattern.  This costume took 18 hours to make from first cut of cloth to the last knotted thread.
