Vietnam’s foreign trade up 16.3 pct in 9 months

HANOI, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) — Vietnam posted a foreign trade record of 578.47 billion U.S. dollars in the first nine months of this year, up 16.3 percent year-on-year with a trade surplus of 20.79 billion dollars, the General Statistics Office has said.
Specifically, the export revenue during the cited period stood at 299.63 billion dollars, up 15.4 percent, while the import revenue surged 17.3 percent year-on-year to 278.84 billion dollars.
Seven items, including electronics, computers and components, telephones, textiles, garments, and footwear, recorded an export turnover of over 10 billion dollars, accounting for 66.4 percent of the total.
China was Vietnam’s largest import market for the cited period with a turnover estimated at 105 billion dollars, the report said. ■
